The Makeda School for Art, Media, and Humanities, founded in 2022, is a speculative and alternative learning space rooted in Black studies, Black feminist theory, and queer theory, offering courses and workshops to a diverse group of individuals.

It was a great experience to have a remote space overviewing the essentials of filmmaking. It was also really exciting to have the push and encouragement to creating something for the sake of practice and learning.

Kat is an incredibly skilled and kind facilitator. The space you cultivate is the right balance of thoughtful and kind but critical and meditative. I always leave sessions wishing for more time with everyone, and Makeda seminars have always left a lasting impression on me.
